Impact DescriptionFrom 1983-1990, densities of major benthic macroinvertebrate groups (Diporeia, Oligochaeta, Sphaeriidae) declined precipitously in shallow waters of southern Lake Michigan from 1980-1993 likely due to the filtering capability of large zebra mussel populations.
