CommentsLand elevation at CRMS0185 varies between low elevation canopy gaps dominated by herbaceous marsh vegetation and relatively higher elevation mounds supporting mature trees. The lower elevation areas experience long term or permanent inundation, and the herbaceous vegetation exists as a persistent and diverse buoyant mat capable of supporting weight in the growing season. As flooding stress removes more of the forest community over time it may be accurate to describe the herbaceous community as a floating marsh.; Acer rubrum (DBH > 5cm) in plot Water Level is below marsh. Open water is 0%. Bare ground is 8%. Dead vegetation is 0%. Flooded-Undetermined is 0%. Canopy cover is 35%. Tree trunk cover is 2%.
