CommentsWater lettuce (along with water hyacinth) was found in a number of places upstream (within 5 miles) and downstream (within 1 mile)of this site in 2011 by WI DNR. FWS and WI DNR removed all plants that were found that year. This year an estimated 6000 water lettuce plants were at this site along with 4000 water hyacinth plants. We had the site sprayed twice and then removed remaining plants by hand. however the time from initial finding through second spraying was almost 8 weeks during which time plants could grow and multiply. In the future we will monitor sites earlier and remove by collecting. On August 15, 2012 Paul Skawinski, Scott Provost, and Sam Betterley collected a sample for a voucher specimen. The voucher was later submitted to the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point Robert W. Freckmann Herbarium.; EDDMapS report
